Poate că este exact ‘Dates’, un proiect comun al artiştilor Radenko Milak şi Roman Uranjek, pretextul pentru a studia cu atenţie relaţia dintre spaţiu, timp şi spectator. Cei doi artişti lucrează impreună de la începutul anului 2015, când au unit două proiecte, cel al lui Radenko Milak ‘365 Images of Time’, cu proiectul ‘At Least One Cross A Day After 1.1.2002’ al lui Roman Uranjek, într-un mod excepţional de subtil şi de spontan.
Ceea ce la o primă privire pare divergent, conceptual şi (anti)estetic, in perspective complet opuse, generează tensiune în proiectul ‘Dates’, proiect care vorbeşte despre complexitatea timpului şi spaţiului şi despre cum poate fi perceput şi reflectat.
Efectul comun creat de cele două componente ale proiectului ‘Dates’ este că timpul şi spaţiul sunt punctate din două perspective diferite, inscripţii ale unor numeroase detalii extrinseci ale existenţei unei persoane în viaţa de zi cu zi, pe parcusul unui an. Spectatorul poate observa tensiunea generată între un personaj istoric şi un jurnal personal, care dezvăluie interclasarea poeticii personale cu dezvăluirea destinelor vieţilor noastre.
Perhaps it is precisely ‘Dates’, a joint project by artists Radenko Milak and Roman Uranjek, that is the reason for considering the relation between space, time and the spectator. The two artists’ cooperation has lasted since the beginning of 2015, when they connected two projects, Milak’s ‘365 Images of Time’ and Uranjek’s ‘At Least One Cross A Day After 1.1.2002’, in a way exceptionally subtle and spontaneous.
That which only at first glance seems, conceptually and (anti)aesthetically, as divergent points of departure, completely opposite points, generates tension in the ‘Dates’ project, one that speaks about the complexity of time and space, and how it can be comprehended and reflected.
The effect jointly created by the diptychs constituting the ‘Dates’ project is that time and space are marked from two different perspectives, representing inscriptions of numerous extrinsic details of a person’s everyday existence over a year. The spectator observing the tension generated between a historical character and a personal diary reveals inextricably interwoven personal poetics sincerely writing out and disclosing the fates of our lives.
Ištvan Išt Huzjan – Subterranean Walks

Ištvan Išt Huzjan este unul dintre artiştii a cărui practică schimbă mediul de exprimare constant. Artistul realizează o legătură între material şi efemer şi interoghează mecanismele de reprezentare ale artelor vizuale contemporane. Huzjan încearcă să îşi delimiteze spaţiul personal şi relaţiile din interiorul lui, ca punct de plecare pentru a regândi problemele cu care se confruntă.
Proiectul ‘Subterranean Walks’ pe care artistul l-a dezvoltat pentru EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS, poate fi văzut ca o continuare a angajamentelor sale faţă de călătorii, prin adresarea unei situaţii spaţiale specifice. În acest sens intervenţia lui Huzjan asupra spaţiului din galerie adresează direct cadrul fizic, dar ce ar putea fi şi mai important este modul său conceptual de a o “ancora”. Instalaţia se dezvoltă în jurul imaginii metroului din Bucureşti, mai întâi o simbolizare a călătoriei orizontale neîncetate a artistului, iar apoi o ancorare a întregului proiect la o structură socială specifică.
Ištvan Išt Huzjan pune sub semnul întrebării simbolistica deja stabilită a acestei structuri, prin precizia intervenţiilor, în care balansează cu grijă relaţia dintre material şi imaterial cu nucleul său conceptual.
Ištvan Išt Huzjan is one of the artists whose works are tirelessly shifting between different mediums of expression, constantly establishing a relation between material and ephemeral and thus interrogating the mechanisms and representational sphere of contemporary visual art. Besides that Huzjan attempts to recognise his personal space and relations within it, as point of departure to rethink the issues that he is currently dealing with.
The project ‘Subterranean Walks’ which the artist has developed for EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS can be seen as a continuation of artists engagements related to journeys but with addressing very specific and particular spatial situation. In this sense Huzjan´s intervention in the ground space of the gallery directly addresses it´s physical frame but what is maybe even more important is how he conceptually “anchors” it. The intervention evolves around the Bucharest Metro which can be at first sight understood as symbolisation of the artist´s ceaseless horizontal journey but if looked at it more closely we get to realise that the artist actually anchors the whole project in relation to specific social structure and re-questions it´s established symbolisms.
This once again demonstrates the precision of Huzjan’s intervention in which he carefully balances the relation between the material and immaterial with its conceptual cores.
