”Metamorfozele lui Dao II. Dao în peisaj romanesc”
Actuala expoziție constituie seria a II-a din expozițiile mele pregătite în 2020 care include și câteva din primele mele rezolvări artistice prin care îmi exprim bucuria și entuziasmul față de frumusețea revărsată de Dao (Cuvântul) peste toate. Ele redau prezența lui Dao în peisajul românesc: peisaj din Mănăstirea Râșca, florile de liliac de pe aleea Mănăstirii Căldărușani, crinul din grădina Reginei Maria de la Balcic, frunze, ierburi, corcodușe, dovlecei, mere, dar și porturi tradiționale românești. După publicarea în 2009 a celor două traduceri Lao Zi -Dao De Jing și Lao Zi și Biblia la care am lucrat vreme de 7 ani, am observat că Dao care în chineză înseamnă cuvânt, rostire, logos, rațiunea, calea, principiul, dreptatea, măiestria de a crea ceva și care a generat toate lucrurile din univers, poate fi sesizat nu doar prin cuvinte, ci și prin culori, sunete, forme, miresme… Am avut Revelația reîntâlnirii cu Dao al chinezilor și Cuvântul al creștinilor în arta vizuală. Demersul meu artistic începe cu simbioza dintre caligrafia și pictura chineză și arta europeană contemporană. Am asociat spontaneitatea gestului caligrafic cu dinamica alcătuirii unui fundal plastic. Constantă fiind caligrama lui Dao, iar variabili fiind stilul. Am ajuns la o apropiere aproape matematică de felul în care am imaginat câteva elemente din enunțul Genezei. Caligrafia este o primă artă a exprimării plastice nu doar a cuvintelor, dar și a conceptelor, a principiilor fundamentale prezente în fenomenul cunoașterii. La început era Cuvântul (Ioan 1:1) tradus în chineză: La Început era Dao. Prima încercare este lucrarea numită Începutul începuturilor. La început era Cuvântul (Dao), Cuvântul s-a făcut trup, Cuvântul era Dumnezeu –sunt scrieri caligrafice pe o bucată de pânză, dintr-o cămașă, un produs românesc, de o calitate extraordinară, pe care am purtat-o timp de peste 20 de ani de când trăiesc în România. Expoziția cuprinde și o serie de lucrări care povestesc chiar începutul creației caracterului lui Dao în ideogramele chinezești, cu o istorie de peste 5000 de ani, fiind singurele ideograme și pictograme care sunt folosite și în zilele noastre. Cele mesopotamiene, sumeriene sau egiptene, au dispărut fiind înlocuite de cuvinte sau semne fonetice. Tehnicile folosite sunt: tuș, ulei, acrilic, elemente organice, culori vegetale pe pânză, hârtie sau mătase chinezească. Încercările mele artistice au drept scop de a-mi exprima admirația și sentimentul de copleșire în fața splendorii creației Divine.
„The Metamorphoses of Dao II” „Dao in the Romanian landscape”
The current exhibition is the second series of my exhibitions prepared for 2020, which include some of my first artistic solutions representing my joy and enthusiasm for the beauty of the Dao (The Word) that prevails over all. The first part of my works show the inherent presence of Dao in the Romanian landscape: The humble thatch next to Râșca Monastery, the lilac flowers on the alley of Căldărușani Monastery and the lily in the garden of Queen Maria in Balchik . Also included are leaves, herbs, cherry plums, pumpkins, apples, and Romanian traditional cloths. After publishing in 2009 the two translations Lao Zi -Dao De Jing and Lao Zi and the Bible that I have worked on for 7 years, I noticed that Dao in Chinese means word, utterance, logos, reason, the way, the principle, the justice, the mastery to create something and which generated all the things in the universe, can be manifested not only by words, but also by colors, sounds, shapes and scents. I had the revelation of the reunion of the Chinese Dao and the Christian Word in the variant of visual paths. I noticed also the possibility of a happy association between the spontaneity of the Chinese calligraphic gesture and the dynamics of composing a plastic background. The constant being Dao’s calligraphy, and the variable being the styls , I came to an almost mathematical approach to the way we imagined some elements from the Genesis. The art of calligraphy is a first art of plastic expression not only of words, but also of concepts, of the fundamental principles present in the phenomenon of the knowledge. I started my artistic approach as a symbiosis between Chinese calligraphy and painting with contemporary European art. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1: 1) translated into Chinese: In the beginning was the Dao, And the Dao was with God, and the Dao was God. My first attempt is the beginning of the beginnings. In the beginning was the Word (Dao), the Word became flesh, the Word was God – are calligraphic writings on a piece of cloth, from a shirt, a Romanian product, of extraordinary quality, which I wore for over 20 years since I live in Romania. This exhibition also includes a series of works that narrate the beginning of the creation of the character of Dao in Chinese ideograms with a history of over five thousand years, the only ideograms and pictograms that have been kept in use for over 5000 years. The Cuneiform writings of Mesopotamian and Sumerian or Egyptian hieroglyphs have disappeared and been replaced by phonetic words or signs. The techniques used are: ink, oil, acrylic, and organic elements, vegetable colors on canvas, paper or Chinese silk. All my artistic endeavors are aimed at expressing my admiration and the overwhelmed feeling in front of the splendor of the creation.
